Translation Manager

Last modified by Aurelie Bertrand on 2026/07/15 08:41

The Translation Manager allows you to view and modify translations of metadata (stream names, dimensions, hierarchies, etc.) added to the global dictionary. Translations added to the global dictionary apply to all elements.

Translations are usually added directly at the element's properties level via the multilingual editor (shown below), which appears when you click the en_Translation_button_FR.png button. When the Use global dictionary checkbox is checked, the element and its translation are added to the dictionary and thus editable from the Translation Manager. See the Translate an object's name page for more details.

Metadata is categorized by type, and its translation status is indicated by a color code.
A set of display filters is available below the element list. Fully translated elements are those that have a display value filled in for all available languages.

Available languages are those specified in the server settings. See the Languages page for more details.

In the tabs on the right, you can specify, for each element, in the available languages:

  • the Display name: the name used in the interface (flow creation, dashboards, etc.).
  • Synonyms: names entered in the synonyms field can be used in data queries as alternatives to dimension or measure names. If you want to add multiple synonyms, place each one on a separate line.
You can also use the Synonyms dictionary: click the en_1737037482763-249.png button to the right of the field.
  • a Description.

To add an element for translation:

  1. Select an element type and click the + button.
➡ The Key name box appears.
  2. Enter the original name of the item (provided during its creation) and click OK. Below is the Cost by region flow.
    Key name
➡ The element is added to the list and can be translated.

💡 This allows you to translate the No display values message when a chart has no values to display. See the Translate the "No values" message page for more details.

You can also:

  • duplicate an element: select the element, click the en_Duplicate_button.png button, and enter a name.
  • delete an element or a selection of elements: select the elements and click the Delete button.

You can also access these functions by right-clicking on the itemt.

  • of all displayed items: click the Load file button.
  • of a selection of items: multi-select the elements, right-click, and select Export selected items.

➡ A zip file containing the translation files for each language is then downloaded.

To import an archive containing translations, click the en_1737038274519-929.png button and select the archive file.

There is also an import/export tool for translations using a CSV file in the Server Settings. See the Languages page for more details.
