Configure email device

Prerequisite

  • You will have to disable HTTPS scanning from the server anti-virus, please see how to with Avast (if Avast is your anti-virus). Avast > Menu >parameters > Protection > Principal agents > Web agent >
    Then uncheck “Grant HTTPS scan”

Setup email server

 
You have two ways to set up email parameters:

  • By updating server parameters:

Parameters field

Email protocol: SMTP or SMTPS (SMTP + SSL)
Email Server: <You email server>
Port: 587 (TLS/STARTTLS), 465 (SSL)

Port 587 is supported by almost every SMTP servers and is useful to “TLS connections” and “not encrypted”. Port 465 is a good choice if you need to connect by SSL (but is deprecated).

Use TLS/SSL protocol: Check this option to secure communication.

SSL and TLS provide two ways to encrypt a communication pipe between two computers (for example, between your laptop and a web server). TLS is the next generation of SSL. SSL and TLS means now the same unless you reference a specific version of the protocol.

Required authentication (STARTTLS) : Check this option to force authentication while sending emails.

STARTTLS is a way of upgrading an unsecured existing connection to the security level of a secured one using SSL/TLS. Please note that despite TLS appearing in the name, STARTTLS does not imply that you must use TLS, you can still use SSL.

Sending success depends on the SMTP server configuration. In fact, sending may fail if authentication try is made by an application recognized as risky (Digdash in that case). A way to solve this issue is to authorize the application in the mail server parameters.

To mail address:
Fill this filed with the recipient of the mail.
The default recipient is ${user.digdashMail}. When sending, this variable is replaced by the value of the user email connected or users of the role in which exist the information flow.
It is possible to update this address by using the desired email.

Add flux to email device

Finally, add a graph to your email device in the studio.
An email will be sent each time the flux is refreshed.
