Connecting to the data catalog
DigDash Enterprise allows you to retrieve information from your current DigDash Enterprise configuration. All configuration objects and their relationships are referenced in the DigDash DataCatalog. Data models and charts can be built from this catalog.
To connect to the Data Catalog :
- In the Create a new data model box, click the Data catalog button in the Other section.
➡ The Dependency tree dialog box is displayed.
Here, you can define one column per object type (Data model, Flow...) and the related objects: "contains/uses" or "is contained in/is used by", in a direct or indirect relationship. You can also display the direct relationships between all object types using the "All" type.
- First select the type of connection relationship you want:
- Directly related elements only : filters the elements in the column only if they are directly related to those in the previous column.
For example: <Column 1: Data source> and <Column 2: Format> only return formats if the box is unchecked, as a format is not used directly in a data source, but in a measure of that data source. - Contains/uses mode: for each row, the element in the column contains or uses the element in the next column. For example :
- A Flow contains a Data Model;
- A Measure contains a Format.
- Mode is contained in/is used by : for each row, the element in the column is contained in or used by the element in the following column. For example :
- A Data Model is contained in a Flow;
- A Format is contained in a Measure.
- Directly related elements only : filters the elements in the column only if they are directly related to those in the previous column.
- Select your columns in the desired order, depending on the relationship you want to analyse.
You can check the validity of your selection by clicking Preview.
In most cases, the absence of data indicates an invalid selection.
💡 Order of selection of elements
It is necessary to respect a certain order in the selection of elements in order to obtain a result.
For example, a Role contains Flows which use (contain) Data Models which contain Dimensions and Measures.
Dimensions can use (contain) a Hierarchy.
Measures use (contain) a Format and , possibly, a Goal.
- For each column, check the type of information you wish to obtain from each object: internal technical identifier used by DigDash, name, description and/or object type.
- Click Preview to see a preview of the result.

Advanced options
Data Catalog data models are based on an analysis of the dependencies in your environment to extract a data cube.
You can define a validity period for this dependency analysis. This validity period allows you to determine how long the analysis remains valid and not to run it each time the models are synchronised.
Click the Advanced Options button to access a direct link to the Dependency Analysis tab of the Server Settings page. Here you can set a validity period in hours for the dependency analysis.
