Index the dimensions

The ‘Index Dimensions’ tab allows you to specify the dimensions by which to sort the data.
This feature is designed to optimise performance when dealing with a large number of rows. Its use should be restricted to the most common and performance-intensive use cases.
For example, when selecting data for a specific year, by default, the system will need to scan through all the rows to find the relevant data. If the date dimension is indexed here, the data will be sorted by date, making it quicker to find the data for the desired year.
To index a dimension:
- In the left-hand ‘Index’ column, click the ‘Add’ button.
- In the right-hand ‘Dimensions’ column, click ‘Add’ and then select the dimension of your choice.
